Girls on Film

Challenge

Create an exciting new campaign for The Workroom’s long-standing client, Salon International, to promote their annual hair show. 

Specifically this year, ensure that the hair was the clear focus of all campaign imagery.

Solution

I was creative lead for this project, presenting 3 concepts to the client before developing the chosen route of ‘Girls on Film’. Inspired by the film technique ‘smash zoom’ (famously seen in Jaws), the campaign used still imagery to create a rushing, motion effect and rapidly focus the eye in on one ‘leading lady’. 

Typography and language and supported the concept, with a movie poster inspired font and headlines like ‘Girls on Film’, ‘Star Quality’ and ‘Final Cut’. As well as writing the main ad headlines, I selected the campaign hero imagery and retouched the initial image set.

The campaign was rolled out in advertising, online, event display graphics and more.
